Mumbai Goa Sailing Rally 1st Forts of Maharashtra Race

Sailing, as a sport, has not developed properly in India despite a coastline that is 7,500km long and inland waterways of more than 15,000km, with an abundance of natural harbours. We, at Sirius Sport, are committed to making all aspects of the sea and inland water bodies accessible to Indians of all classes, backgrounds and economic strata. In furtherance of this aim, Sirius Sport is conducting the Mumbai To Goa Sailing Rally which would also constitute the 1st Forts of Maharashtra Race, under the burgee of the Sailing School of India and the Ocean Cruising and Racing Club.

The Mumbai To Goa Rally is an off¬shore race that aims to bring together many of the top professional as well as amateur sailors from across the country for a five-day sailing challenge along the picturesque West Coast of India. Starting in Mumbai, the rally gives the participating sailors an opportunity to navigate down the challenging Konkan Coast, past quaint fishing villages, historical forts, unexplored islands, beaches and lighthouses. The yachts will battle the elements as well as face the challenge from their opponents, and have two stopovers, one each at Harihareshwar and Tarkali, before they finally cross the finish line in Goa. The rally is designed to allow sailors, both seasoned and novice, to experience the sheer excitement and adrenaline that off¬shore sailing can off¬er. A test of skill, endurance, determination and teamwork, the rally will be a rare chance for the competitors to get back to nature and challenge themselves as well as their compatriots.

This Rally is being conducted on large sailboats of over 20 feet in length, led by our own flagship 26 foot sailboat, Sirius. The course of the Rally is along the picturesque west coast of India and is the first of its kind.

3rd Annual SSI Republic Day Regatta
Optimist Cup

Republic Day in India is celebrated to honour the date on which the Constitution of India came into force, thereby marking the country’s transition into an independent republic. This Constitution paved the way for democracy in India, and gave its citizens the power to elect their own representatives to the government. Not only does Republic Day celebrate India’s unity, it also symbolizes its diversity and rich cultural heritage.

In honour of this momentous occasion, Sirius Sport is organising the 3rd Annual SSI Republic Day Regatta for children between the ages of 8 and 15 years in the Optimist class of boats. It is a day filled with the children’s’ unbridled enthusiasm and undying competitive spirit in their quest to be the winner of the regatta so that they may be able to lift the prestigious Optimist Cup.
